Boischatel is a municipality on the Côte-de-Beaupré, immediately east of Québec City at the Montmorency River—not a borough of the capital. Suburban neighbourhoods, river-gorge approaches to Montmorency Falls (largely in Québec City), and the doorstep of the Beaupré coast define the community. About 8,000 people live in Boischatel.
