About Kitimat
Kitimat is a district municipality at the head of Douglas Channel on British Columbia’s North Coast—not the Kitimat-Stikine regional district as a whole, and not a typical grid city. A planned 1950s Alcan/Rio Tinto aluminum town, it mixes a townsite, industrial waterfront, and rainforest-fjord setting. About 8,000 people live in Kitimat.
