Miramichi is a city in northeastern New Brunswick, strung along the Miramichi River where several former towns amalgamated. Atlantic salmon fishing, riverfront boardwalks, and Acadian–Irish–Scottish heritage define the place. Highways 8 and 11 make it a service centre for Northumberland County. About 17,000 people live in Miramichi.
