Repentigny is on the north shore of the St. Lawrence at the mouth of the rivière L’Assomption, in Lanaudière immediately east of Montréal. It includes the former town of Le Gardeur and is a French-speaking suburban city with a long riverfront. Commuter rail and Autoroute 40 link it to the island. About 86,000 people live in Repentigny.
