About Timmins

Timmins is a mining city in northeastern Ontario, on the Mattagami River in the Canadian Shield. It formed from gold-camp towns such as Porcupine, Schumacher, and South Porcupine and remains one of the country’s main gold- and base-metal centres. Boreal forest, lakes, and mine headframes sit at the edge of a spread-out urban area. About 41,000 people live in Timmins.
