Torbay is a town on Newfoundland’s northeast Avalon, on Torbay Bight just north of St. John’s—not the capital itself. A former fishing harbour that has become a suburban coastal town, it offers East Coast Trail headlands and a distinct municipal government from St. John’s. About 8,000 people live in Torbay.
