About Val-d'Or

Val-d’Or is a gold-mining city on the Abitibi clay belt in northwestern Québec, on Lac Blouin. It grew from the Bourlamaque mining camp and still offers underground mine tours in the former Lamaque workings. A downtown on the highway, a large regional airport, and boreal lakes surround the urban grid. About 33,000 people live in Val-d’Or.
